Luke 1:70 ASV
(70) As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old
1 Peter 1:10-11 ASV
(10) Concerning which salvation the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: (11) searching what time or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them.
Because of a simple disobedience, Moses and Aaron were not permitted to set foot in Canaan. Imagine the wrath of Jesus for our disregard for other commandments at the end of the world! Think about the fact that Jesus spoke to Moses face to face but when he disobeyed the voice of Jesus by striking the rock instead of speaking to it as instructed, Moses had to die. Call it tyranny but it is actually a lesson in obedience.
Adam and Eve also ate just a fruit. Yet, it was a verdict of death.
There is also the teaching moment when a man because he wanted in his good heart and intention to prevent the ark from falling but Jesus said the ark may not be touched. Witnessing the death of the man, David was displeased, we read, and was afraid (1 Chronicles 13:9-14).
Saul lost his kingdom because he offered a sacrifice that the Prophet was supposed to offer (1 Samuel 13:8-23).
In other words, our good and noble motive cannot excuse our disobedience.
WE MUST BE OBEDIENT (1 Samuel 15:22).
