ἀγορά, -ας, ἡ (< ἀγείρω, to bring together)

1. an assembly (Hom., Xen., al.).

2. a place of assembly, a public place or forum, a market-place (Hom., Thuc, al.; LXX): Mt 11:1620:223:7, Mk 6:56 (cf. MM, VGT, s.v., ἀγυιά) 7:4 (Bl., §46, 7) 12:38, Lk 7:32 (Bl., §46, 7) 11:4320:46, Ac 16:1917:7 (Cremer, 59; MM, VGT, s.v.).†
