βωμός, -οῦ, ὁ

(< βαίνω), [in LXX (Hex.) for מִזְבֵּחַ, in Proph., chiefly for בָּמָה;]

1. any raised place, a platform.

2. an altar: Ac 17:23 (cf. θυσιαστήριον and v. DB, i, 75).†
