3. In Jewish usage, the day of preparation for a Sabbath or a feast (= προσάββατον, q.v.): Mt 27:62, Mk 15:42, Lk 23:54, Jo 19:31; c. gen., τοῦ πάσχα, Jo 19:14; τ. Ἰουδαίων, Jo 19:42 (it is the name for Friday in MGr.).†
