1. to spend, expend: c. acc., Mk 5:26; seq. ἐπί, c. dat. pers., Ac 21:24; ὑπέρ, II Co 12:15.

2. to consume, squander: Lk 15:14; ἐν τ. ἡδσναῖς (on the constr. with ἐν, v. Hort, Mayor, in l.), Ja 4:3 (cf. ἐκ-, προσ- δ.).†
