1. to be overproud, high-minded (Æsch.): μὴ ὑ. παρ’ ὃ δεῖ φρονεῖν (on the paranom., v. Vau., in l.), Ro 12:3.

2. to overlook, think slightly of (Thuc., Plat.).†
