In the old English sense, means alive, or living. Nu 16:302Ti 4:1; and quicken, to make alive. God bestows spiritual life on men dead in trespasses and sins, Eph 2:5, through Christ the second Adam, who is a quickening Spirit, 1Co 15:45.
