ἄσπονδος

Etym. σπονδή

I. "without drink-offering", of a god, "to whom no drink-offering is poured", ἄσπ. θεός i. e. death, Eur.

II. "without a regular truce" (which was ratified by σπονδαί), Thuc.; ἀσπόνδους τοὺς νεκροὺς ἀνελέσθαι to take up their dead "without leave asked", id=Thuc.; τὸ ἄσπονδον "a keeping out of treaty or covenant" with others, "neutrality", id=Thuc.
