I. "out of place", and so,

1. "strange, unwonted, extraordinary", Eur., etc.

2. "strange, odd, eccentric", δοῦλοι τῶν ἀεὶ ἀτόπων slaves to every new "paradox", Thuc.; τῶν ἀτοπωτάτων ἂν εἴη Dem.

3. "unnatural, disgusting, foul", πνεῦμα Thuc.
