I. "to strip bare, to desolate, lay waste", ἱερά Thuc.:—Pass., Hdt., etc.
II. "to bereave" one "of" a thing, c. gen., ἐρ. ναυβατῶν ἐρετμά "to leave" the oars "without" men, Eur.:—Pass. "to be bereft of", c. gen., Hdt., Aesch.
