I. "to say beforehand", Plat.:—Pass., ἐκ τῶν προειρημένων id=Plat.; τὰ προρρηθέντα id=Plat.; ταῦτά μοι προειρήσθω "be said by way of preface", Isocr.

II. "to order" one to do a thing "beforehand or publicly", τινί c. inf., Hdt.; also, πρ. τινί ὡς.. id=Hdt.:—Pass. impers., προείρητο αὐτοῖς μὴ ἐπιχειρεῖν "orders had been given" them not to attack, Thuc.; τὸ προειρημένον the "prescribed" implement, Hdt.; δεῖπνον πρ.
