ὠρύομαι

I. Med. "to howl", properly of wolves and dogs, Theocr., etc.:—of men, ὄρθιον ὤρυσαι Pind.; of savages, either in mourning or joy, Hdt.

II. trans. "to howl over", τῆνον μὲν θῶες, τῆνον λύκοι ὤρυσαντο Theocr.; so, ὠρ. ἐπί τινι Luc.; περί τινα Bion.
