SUR'GEON, noun sur'jen. [contracted from chirurgeon.] One whose profession or occupation is to cure diseases or injuries of the body by manual operation. In a more general sense, one whose occupation is to cure external diseases, whether by manual operation, or by medicines externally or internally.
