A‐grise″ (�), v. i. [AS. āgrīsan to dread; ā- (cf. Goth. us-, Ger. er-, orig. meaning out) + grīsan, for gr�san (only in comp.), akin to OHG. gr�is�n, G. grausen, to shudder. See Grisly.] To shudder with terror; to tremble with fear. Chaucer.
