Anophyte

An″o‐phyte (ăn″ō̍‐fīt), n. [Gr. ἄνω upward (fr. ανἄ up) + φυτόν a plant, φύειν to grow.] (Bot.) A moss or mosslike plant which cellular stems, having usually an upward growth and distinct leaves.
