A″o‐rist (ā″ō̍‐rĭst), n. [Gr. αὄριστοσ indefinite; ἀ priv. + ορἵζειν to define, � boundary, limit.] (Gram.) A tense in the Greek language, which expresses an action as completed in past time, but leaves it, in other respects, wholly indeterminate.
