Aph′lo‐gis″tic (�), a. [Gr. � not inflammable; ἀ priv. + � set on fire. See Phlogiston.] Flameless; as, an aphlogistic lamp, in which a coil of wire is kept in a state of continued ignition by alcohol, without flame.
