Au′ri‐phryg″i‐ate (a̤′rĭ‐frĭ″jĭ‐ā̍t), a. [LL. auriphrigiatus; L. aurum gold + LL. phrygiare to adorn with Phrygian needlework, or with embroidery; perhaps corrupted from some other word. Cf. Orfrays.] Embroidered or decorated with gold. Southey.
