Cav″i‐ty (?), n.; pl.Cavities (#). [L. cavus hollow: cf. F. cavité.] 1. Hollowness.

The cavity or hollowness of the place.

Abnormal spaces or excavations are frequently formed in the lungs, which are designated cavities or vomicæ.
