Chant (?), v. t. [imp. & p. p.Chanted; p. pr. & vb. n.Chanting.] [F. chanter, fr. L. cantare, intens. of canere to sing. Cf. Cant affected speaking, and see Hen.] 1. To utter with a melodious voice; to sing.
