Counterscarp

Coun″ter‐scarp′ (–skärp′), n. [Counter- + scarp: cf. F. contrescarpe.] (Fort.) The exterior slope or wall of the ditch; — sometimes, the whole covered way, beyond the ditch, with its parapet and glacis; as, the enemy have lodged themselves on the counterscarp.
