Crake, n. [Cf. Icel. krāka crow, krākr raven, Sw. kråka, Dan. krage; perh. of imitative origin. Cf. Crow.] (Zoöl.) Any species or rail of the genera Crex and Porzana; — so called from its singular cry. See Corncrake.
