Daph″ne (?), n. [L., a laurel tree, from Gr. δάφνη.] 1. (Bot.) A genus of diminutive Shrubs, mostly evergreen, and with fragrant blossoms.
2. (Myth.) A nymph of Diana, fabled to have been changed into a laurel tree.
