Des″mo‐dont (–dŏnt), n. [Gr. δεσμόσ bond + οδοὔσ, οδὄντοσ, tooth.] (Zoöl.) A member of a group of South American blood-sucking bats, of the genera Desmodus and Diphylla. See Vampire.
