‖Ec′tho‐re″um (?), n.; pl.Ecthorea (#). [NL., fr. Gr. � to leap out; εκ out + �, �, to leap, dart.] (Zoöl.) The slender, hollow thread of a nettling cell or cnida. See Nettling cell. [Written also ecthoræum.]
