‖E‐las′mo‐bran″chi‐i (?), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. � a metal plate + L. branchia a gill.] (Zoöl.) A subclass of fishes, comprising the sharks, the rays, and the Chimæra. The skeleton is mainly cartilaginous.
