‖Es‐par″to (?), n. [Sp.; cf. L. spartum Spanish broom, Gr. �.] (Bot.) A species of Spanish grass (Macrochloa tenacissima), of which cordage, shoes, baskets, etc., are made. It is also used for making paper.
