E‐van″gel (ē̍‐văn″jĕl), n. [F. évangile, L. evangelium, Gr. ευαγγἔλιον good news, glad tidings, gospel, fr. ευἄγγελοσ bringing good news; εὐ̑ well + ἄγγελειν to bear a message. See Eu-, and Angel and cf. Evangely.] Good news; announcement of glad tidings; especially, the gospel, or a gospel. Milton.
