‖Ex′o‐ce″tus (? or?), ‖Ex′ocœ″tus, n. [NL. exocetus, L. exocoetus a fish that sleeps on the shore, Gr. εξὤκοιτοσ, lit., sleeping out; ἔξω outside of + κοίτη bed.] (Zoöl) A genus of fishes, including the common flying fishes. See Flying fish.
