Fizz (fĭz), v. i. [imp. & p. p.Fizzed (fĭzd); p. pr. & vb. n.Fizzing.] [Cf. Icel. fīsa to break wind, Dan. fise to foist, fizzle, OSw. fisa, G. fisten, feisten. Cf. Foist.] To make a hissing sound, as a burning fuse.
