Fren″zy (–zy̆), n.; pl.Frenzies (–zĭz). [OE. frenesie, fransey, F. frénésie, L. phrenesis, fr. Gr. φρένησισ for φρενι̑τισ disease of the mind, phrenitis, fr. φρην mind. Cf. Frantic, Phrenitis.] Any violent agitation of the mind approaching to distraction; violent and temporary derangement of the mental faculties; madness; rage.
