Gier″–ea′gle (?), n. [Cf. D. gier vulture, G. gier, and E. gyrfalcon.] (Zoöl.) A bird referred to in the Bible (Lev. xi. 18and Deut. xiv. 17) as unclean, probably the Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus).
