‖Æ″gis (�), n. [L. aegis, fr. Gr. � a goat skin, a shield, � goat, or fr. � to rush.] A shield or protective armor; — applied in mythology to the shield of Jupiter which he gave to Minerva. Also fig.: A shield; a protection.
