Gree (?), n. [F. gré. See Grateful, and cf. Agree.] 1. Good will; favor; pleasure; satisfaction; — used esp. in such phrases as: to take in gree; to accept in gree; that is, to take favorably. Chaucer.

2. Rank; degree; position. Chaucer.

He is a shepherd great in gree. Spenser.

3. The prize; the honor of the day; as, to bear the gree, i.e., to carry off the prize. Chaucer.
