‖Ha‐lo″nes (hȧ‐lō″nēz), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. ἅλων, ἅλωνοσ, a halo.] (Biol.) Alternating transparent and opaque white rings which are seen outside the blastoderm, on the surface of the developing egg of the hen and other birds.
