Hart (härt), n. [OE. hart, hert, heort, AS. heort, heorot; akin to D. hert, OHG. hiruz, hirz, G. hirsch, Icel. hjörtr, Dan. & Sw. hjort, L. cervus, and prob. to Gr. κεραόσ horned, κέρασ horn. √230. See Horn.] (Zoöl.) A stag; the male of the red deer. See the Note under Buck.
