Hypermeter

Hy‐per″me‐ter (?), n. [Gr. � beyond all measure; υπἕρ over, beyond + � measure: cf. F. hypermètre.] 1. (Pros.) A verse which has a redundant syllable or foot; a hypercatalectic verse.

2. Hence, anything exceeding the ordinary standard.

When a man rises beyond six foot, he is an hypermeter. Addison.
