‖Loph′o‐bran″chi‐i (?), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. λόφοσ a crest or tuft + βράγχιον gill.] (Zoöl.) An order of teleostean fishes, having the gills arranged in tufts on the branchial arches, as the Hippocampus and pipefishes.
