Man″dil (măn″dĭl), n. [OF. mandil; cf. Sp. & Pg. mandil a coarse apron, a haircloth; all from Ar. mandil tablecloth, handkerchief, mantle, fr. LGr. μανδήλιον, fr. L. mantile, mantele. See Mantle.] A loose outer garment worn the 16th and 17th centuries.
