{ Meg″a‐there (?), ‖Meg′a‐the″ri‐um (?), } n. [NL. megatherium, fr. Gr. μέγασ great + θυρίον beast.] (Paleon.) An extinct gigantic quaternary mammal, allied to the ant-eaters and sloths. Its remains are found in South America.
