Nar‐cot″ic (–kŏt″ĭk), a. [F. narcotique, Gr. ναρκωτικόσ, fr. ναρκου̑ν to benumb, νάρκη numbness, torpor.] (Med.) Having the properties of a narcotic; operating as a narcotic.
