Nec″ro‐phore (?), n. [Gr. νεκρόσ a dead body + φέρειν to bear.] (Zoöl.) Any one of numerous species of beetles of the genus Necrophorus and allied genera; — called also burying beetle, carrion beetle, sexton beetle.
