‖Ob″e‐lus (?), n.; pl.Obeli (#). [L., fr. Gr. οβελὄσ, prop., a spit.] (Print.) A mark; — so called as resembling a needle. In old MSS. or editions of the classics, it marks suspected passages or readings.
