Os″tra‐cism (?), n. [Gr. οστρακισμὄσ, fr. οστρακἴζειν to ostracize. See Ostracize.] 1. (Gr. Antiq.) Banishment by popular vote, — a means adopted at Athens to rid the city of a person whose talent and influence gave umbrage.
