Pœ′ci‐lit″ic (?), a. [Gr. ποικίλοσ many-colored, variegated.] (Geol.) (a) Mottled with various colors; variegated; spotted; — said of certain rocks. (b) Specifically: Of or pertaining to, or characterizing, Triassic and Permian sandstones of red and other colors. [Also written poikilitic.]
