‖Plac′o‐ga‐noi″de‐i (?), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. πλάξ, πλακόσ, a tablet + NL. ganoidei. See Ganoidei.] (Zoöl.) A division of ganoid fishes including those that have large external bony plates and a cartilaginous skeleton.
