‖Po‐lyg″a‐la (?), n. [L., milkwort, fr. Gr. �; πολύσ much + � milk.] A genus of bitter herbs or shrubs having eight stamens and a two-celled ovary (as the Seneca snakeroot, the flowering wintergreen, etc.); milkwort.
