‖Po‐lyp′te‐roi″de‐i (?), n. pl. [NL. See Polypterus, and -oid.] (Zoöl.) A suborder of existing ganoid fishes having numerous fins along the back. The bichir, or Polypterus, is the type. See Illust. under Crossopterygian.
