Prescutum

‖Pre‐scu″tum (?), n.; pl.Prescuta (�). [NL. See Præ-, and Scutum.] (Zoöl.) The first of the four pieces composing the dorsal part, or tergum, of a thoracic segment of an insect. It is usually small and inconspicuous.
