Rodomonte, Rodamonte, a boasting hero in the “Orlando Furioso” of Ariosto, and the “Orlando Innamorato” of Bojardo; properly, one who rolls away mountains; Prov. It. rodare to roll away (fr. L. rota a wheel) + It. monte a mountain, L. mons. See Rotary, Mount, n.] A vain or blustering boaster; a braggart; a braggadocio. Sir T. Herbert.
